DENTAL IMPLANTS
A dental
implant (also known as an endosseous implant or fixture) is a surgical
component (dental metal screw) that interfaces with the bone of the jaw or
skull to support a dental prosthesis such as a crown, bridge, denture, facial
prosthesis or to act as an orthodontic anchor.
WHAT DOES AN IMPLANT DO?
Most commonly, a dental implant (metal screw) replaces one or multiple missing teeth on which a crown or bridge is glued to in order to restore missing teeth. Dental implant is the closest restoration in the mouth to natural dentition.
